Freedom Is Not Free
The Amarillo Area Corvette Club wishes to extend an invitation to you, and any Corvette owner to join us on Friday September 11, 2010 for our eighth annual “We Remember 9-11 Event”.
On September 11, 2001 the United States of America experienced a tragedy that none of us want to see again. The Amarillo Area Corvette Club does not want that day to be forgotten. Our annual event is our way of attempting to keep the events of that day in the forefront. This event is a put on to REMEMBER what happen to this country on September 11, 2001. It just so happens that as a club, we also have a common interest in the true American Sports Car the “Corvette”.
For that reason, there will be Corvettes on display for the public to enjoy, BUT LET US NOT FORGET THE REAL REASON FOR GATHERING ON THIS DAY TO REMEMBER WHAT HAPPEN TO OUR COUNTRY, AND IT CITIZENS, AND THE LIVES LOST ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. The general public is invited to come out and enjoy the all festivities at Westgate Chevrolet from 1 to 4 September 11, or watch for the caravan coming through your neighborhood.
We salute those that have, those that are, and those that will provide this country with protection of our freedom. Those groups include our military, police, and fireman, and any public servant that lay their lives, and save lives each day for our freedom. If you are military or public servant, and let us say thanks to personally.
If you own a Corvette we want to invite you to join us September 11, 2010 for a rally at Westgate Chevrolet in Amarillo, Texas. We start gathering at Westgate Chevrolet, I-40 and Coulter Amarillo, Texas at 1:00 PM. There will be food available, ceremonies at 3:15 PM. Caravan leaves at 4:00PM. The public is invited to participate by joining us at the departing ceremonies. This is the Corvette Club way of saying:
9-11 WE REMEMBER !!!!!!!!!!!
Amarillo Area Corvette Club Honors Our Public Servants And Military
Below is another 9-11 event.
99-11 Remembrance Ceremony
On September 11, 2001, our country was attacked by terrorists. The terrorists flew aircraft into the two World Trade Center Buildings, the Pentagon, and intentionally crashed United Flight 93 into a Pennsylvania field. The mass murder resulted in 2,977 deaths and 19 hijackers killed, with 6000+ injured. A total of 411 emergency workers lost their lives trying to rescue victims. NYFD lost 343; NYPD lost 23; Port Authority Police Department lost 37 and 8 additional Private Paramedics were killed.
The Honor Guards of the AFD and APD, with the assistance of COA PR Specialist Donna Makkhavane, have prepared a 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony, to include all public safety agencies in Potter and Randall Counties, on Saturday, September 11th @ 8:30 AM in front of the flags at City Hall. Our families and the public are invited. The Ceremony, although short in duration will be very respectfully done and will conclude by 9:15. The Honor Guards will march in to Post Colors accompanied by Bag Pipes surrounded by response apparatus and units from the area. The Randall Show Choir will lead patriotic music while AFD and APD provide a 21 gun salute, the ringing of the 5-5-5, and the 10-42 PD salute, a coordinated video presentation, as well as a DPS helicopter flyover and a benediction from the AFD Chaplain.
I express my gratitude and appreciation to the Members and the Honor Guards for their work in preparing this Ceremony. I request that all off duty members consider joining us, with your families, for this short ceremony. We need to surround the citizens in attendance with lines of blue fire fighters and public safety members. The dress for Police Officers will be Class A. If you do not have a Class A, please wear your long sleeve shirt and a black tie.
This is your opportunity to salute our fallen brothers and to never forget them. Please join us on 9-11.
Chief Taylor APD
